I binge read this in a week, and I regret so much. Partially because I could have spent my time doing something more productive, but mostly because now I have a huge Helck shaped hole in my heart. I should have waited for Helck 2 to come out, not that I would have known that if I didn't read it

This is an amazing manga, and anyone who wants a story with a load of likable characters, wide-spanning plot, important nonromantic relationships, and a pretty solid ending
besides some loose ends that seemed to be intentional (that being said, whatever happened to that demon emperor that apparently disappeared? Did he disappear from the plot too?)
, this is the manga for you!

Man I am starting to seriously hate all these effin .5 chapters after EVERY SINGLE GOD DAMN REAL CHAPTER. Holy shit, wish I could just read all of them and none of those side bullshit. Also, I wish I could catch that bird, roast it and then bury it underground so the worms get some food.

I have some very heavy gripes with this one. Good art, entertaining characters, nice plot and action, so overall this was supposed to be an entertaining read. But it somehow wasn't. It could've easily been better. One thing that pissed me off were the unbearable comedy segments between every chapter. I skimmed or skipped over most of them. This isn't a problem in the beginning, but it is later on when things start to get serious and the drama cranks up. They heavily break the atmosphere and mood the actual plot relevant chapters create and it ripped me right out off my immersion everytime. The other thing that still makes me curse is the fucking bird. I don't know what the author was thinking or drinking while creating this annoying twat. He probably thought this manga needed a dedicated comedy relief character or a mascot or something. But it only induced resentment in me. It is unbelievabe how shoe-horned that little faggot is. And one of the worst offenders were the convenient asspulls towards the finale, some of which also came from that fucking bird.
Like others said, it starts strong and goes down to okay at the end. Worth a read if there's nothing better around and when you want to watch a burly guy punch things very hard, while a little witch goes inferno in the background.

Wrote a review on this, here it is:
https://terrenceswiff.wordpress.com/2016/02/12/helck/

This was part of the first three manga I wrote about, and I wrote on it more than the first two reviews combined. So, long read warning. I quite like Helck, and it took me a while to explain why. I don't actually think everyone ever can enjoy this series, so maybe all these words will inform you whether or not it's up your alley. Or maybe you just want to read a thing that's someone gushing over Helck for 3000 words. That's cool too.

OH, and I wasn't sure if it would be smart to reference scanlation on a review that also tells you how to buy stuff, but I want to give a HUMONGOUS thanks to rello for translating this series in a marvelous fashion that boosted its popularity. I can't thank that guy enough. I still remember, even if he dropped it!

The ending was great but the ending ARC was... preeeetty bad. Too many fakeouts. I hope 77-sensei's next work has better focus.

I just finished reading this series and I have to say that this is by far my favorite. I hope to see more manga like this in the future. If I could give this 11 stars I would. It moved me to tears more times than I am willing to admit and I never once got bored of the manga or even think of dropping it.

I finished a while ago, but I keep finding myself thinking about and returning to Helck. It's uncommon for a manga to make such lasting emotional impact on me and I'm enjoying it.

So the last chapter in the short Piwi spin-off https://mangadex.org/title/29317/piwi teased Helk 2 for Spring 2019 at the end ?
