You need to fight strong opponents to get stronger. If you don't fight them, you stop making progress. Naturally such an opponent has the potential to kill you, otherwise it couldn't be called strong. That's just how it goes. Surely the hero should understand all that as well. But I suppose a hero must act like that, try to save everyone. He doesn't seem to be worried about Allen at all, though.
