No, you're absolutely right. All new mangas try to be "different" by changing the concept a little bit and then veer back to generic cliche highschool romance slop.

Maybe i have read too many mangas but, isnt this plot kinda similar to "Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mobs"? Apologies if this was already answered/noticed/etc before, it just hit me like a ton of bricks

Most likely the case. I already resigned myself and just read whatever makes me happy. I have 6 completed manga about this trope and 20+ reading manga about this trope.
I did lose 17+ of the list after comick shut down, though.
