I can't believe Sebas really asked "are you all right?" right after MC got burnt to a crisp :dogkek: and half the chapter is literally just wholesome scenes of them together.

Jelasis would be wise not to show his face at the academy anymore. This seems like a sufficient reason to challenge him to a duel to the death.

I mean, I'd personally vouch for simply planting an axe in his brain stem while he's asleep.

"duels" are for when someone deserves courtesy and respect.

He's dealing with underhanded people using underhanded tactics who aren't above siccing demons on people and trying to brand or burn them alive. She's already been scarred once; I don't know why he isn't just pulling spines out of necks at this point already (other than the writers of these stories being universally averse to protagonists who aren't scared of killing).

My brain has to be such a jumbled mess not to remember who Jelasis was, considering his presence in the story.
If, like me, you need a reminder: He's the second son of the Ignite ducal family, a concubine's bastard who was treated cruelly by his father and kept as insurance in case the firstborn died (chapter 7), was born with a demon inside of him and, while being part of Patricia's harem, is obsessed with Alicia, having been the one behind all known attacks on her so far (chapters 1+2, 9-11) and the handkiss mentioned, where he engraved the demonic sigil, happened in chapter 13.

It's the stupid japanese mentality of "but if I punish them in any way for attempting to murder/torture/enslave my loved ones, I'd just be as bad as them! Therefore I must simply beat them in a fair duel and talk it out because surely they will understand once I have proven that I am mightier in both fists and words."

I know you're simply providing information and passing along facts as the narrative has presented them, but I can't help but laugh at how Jelasis' circumstances could very easily be used by the author to say "see? He's also had sad things happen to him, therefore his continued attempts to steal Alicia and also trying to murder Ragna and/or maim the protagonist's friends are just him calling for help. He simply needs a friend and someone to understand him, of course."

I think you are forgetting he has killed people who harmed her before. The earliest example is that one lady that placed a curse on her I think? I don't remember which chapter it is, but it's an early one.
Edit: It's chapter 3, and yeah, he sliced her head OFF

That's what happens when you let creeps (who you KNOW is a creep) do whatever he likes next to your girl. You should talk to him in a harsh tone next time you see him as well because since he arrived at the academy, he became a pussy for some reason. This shit has the dumbest writing sometimes.

That certainly is an impression one could get from his interactions with both Patricia in chapter 10 and Ragna in chapter 11.
P.s. Well, he IS an otome game romance target, so not making him a completely irredeemable monster is just consistent world building.

it is wholesome indeed. they now are closer.

and about Jelasis. I doubt that he will forgive him for hurting his beloved fiance. so let's take it easy and WAIT and see. could be that Jelasis gets eatten by monsters and worse before they can react.
