I was hoping that Hino would confess to Koguma... that she is dumping all her feelings on the latter: family feelings; friend feelings; adolescent feelings; grief for her grandmother; her own rudderlessness... and that she is funneling this emotional maelstrom into a high school crush, a genuine crush, but not necessarily the life-long LTR. Chihiro and Rin could use that kind of slow cooking into adulthood.

I've read too many stories (Western ones too) where adolescent feels from confused kids get railroaded into a same-sex LTR, without exploring whether the two people might just be desperate for a little physical and emotional intimacy.

What's here is great, but... it could have been more interesting...
