He is a narcissist. The mere insinuation that she was better than him would have been a great insult without flattery or bootlicking. Actually being better than him? That’s just plain unforgivable. He might also have some resentment for him freeing Shibuya which resulted in his death, but considering his personality, that’s second to his ego itself being bruised.
