For most, that is indeed true, given that the black haired one is morally quite similar, if only a bit more self-aware.
However, if all that would've been changed was giving the ML tits and Vaj-Jay-Jay, I honestly doubt they would be received better.
Anyhow, the character is very much written to be hated by the reader, something that the writing is succeeding at

Yeah, no. I'm only here because I read some of this mangaka's other work and thought his title (Ijousha no Ai) with a female lead was an absolutely breathtaking and realistic piece of psychological horror. The sadism in Ijousha no Ai is completely different, the mc spends literal years isolating her victim and laying her traps. That's why that series stands above this one, because it fills you with the unrelenting terror that the victims themselves feel, not because the mc is female. This on the other hand mostly feels like a sick indulgence for an asshole that got incredibly lucky once, the mc isn't even self aware let alone having a goal for any of his sadistic whims, filling the reader with revulsion. I give the mangaka due credit though, as I think that is deliberate. Oh and the female sadist in this one isn't the same as the MC either, she might call her partner "pig" and "slave" but it's obvious she has complete consent from him for that and a lot more, pig-san is the only one who really seems to be enjoying this game at this point tbh.

That said I'm into yandere not sadodere, though it's easier to find a random sadodere than an even mildly passable yandere. I had hopes for Ijousha no Ai that didn't bear fruit. No such hopes for this one though.

That was one of my thoughts through reading this story for some time, Shibuya unfortunately doesn't have enough strength to battle a yandare of that narcissistic strength.
