Someone's going to have to explain the leveling system in this game because those girls being level 20 in the forest and this jackass being level 18 after *clearing the bottom half of a labyrinth full of level 100 enemies* does not make sense

How is he only level 18 after all the experience he got in the labyrinth? He was killing enemies over a hundred levels above him, even if he's suffering a severe xp penalty he should still be at least mid 50s.
