Though the progress on the romance front is questionable, elsewhere it's still great to see the dude realised that just because a random person said something about his skills, it doesn't mean anything and he can simply ignore it and keep going. Just compare him to Gojou Wakana in Bisque Doll. Gojou carries such a trauma you'd think he's a war veteran.

There are no hair stylists here, only school kids. Moreover, his negative experience was from the middle school, which means even more immaturity. I like how her friends was normal. like you know real life there are many girls like his middle school friend or many girls who says bad things about you creating rumors and such. But her friends first said*well he is barely a friend" when they learned what she was doing, they all supported the guy's side which was the normal thing to do.
