Her love for books doesn't get better, ever, in fact anyone who know her long enough know that books are the best bait to use on her.
And a LOT of events in the series happen because of her love for books.

Like accidentally awaken ancient librarian-dolls because her magic overflow and ends up recharging them when she visit a library.
Except those dolls are property of the royal family so they aren't exactly fine with her becoming the registered owner like that.

Or befriending another noble who initially brought up the subject of books because she's known for collecting them.
And Myne ends up getting that girl addicted to Myne's books because these are thinner and easier to read than the bulky ones.

Temple Head and his cronies are villainous, though for the most part they just avoid Myne (or rather, Chief Priest set it up so she has very little contact with them)
Chief Priest and the greys aren't, and Chief is in fact the man running most operations in the temple.
The religion itself is neutral, the Gods don't make demands of the people or brand something as harmful out of prejudice, and for the most part the religious practices are done properly (bribes and such are for personal favors and things outside of the religious rituals)

I don't think it ever was an option, it can happen because of the lag of nobles and as soon as that is fixed she is out on the street again.
The manga makes it sound like Benno knew it was a thing, but I believe it is guessing work based on what Myne just told him and what he knows about the noble situation.
