Always befriend the crew especially if you're the talent. Something goes wrong, its easier to approach the problem as a collective. They can even give you special attention, like really focus in on your set to make sure nothing goes awry, hopefully the director is either too ignorant or willing to let the crew express themselves creatively during the show. And even if they aren't it's always nice to know the tech has your back when you dont have faith in yourself

I mean it's not entirely wrong, these shows are mostly scripted and they will try to make the talent shine, if it's in their interest (and they like working with the talent and or her agency). Just as easy the opposite might happen and you end up the stupid butt of the joke all the time.
