Kafka has like a million projects and have obviously bitten over more than they can chew. They've been slow as hell on a weekly series.
They don't own the series and are not entitled to be the only ones working on it. That's how scanlation work.

Yeah, I feel some despair once in a while reading manga about high schoolers when I realize that I'm old enough to be their dad.
And then I sort of have an existential crisis about what I'm doing with my life reading Chinese cartoons at my age instead of doing something more meaningful with my life.

Because usually the one's who snipe use MTL and do the other things poorly like typesetting redrawing etc
So they can pump the chapters fast
Due to new chaps being out the old TL team (which does correct TLs) ends up dropping the series because no one will bother reading their "old chapter" so their efforts are wasted

And we end up with a garbage TL that asks for donations as the sole one (as it's pretty dumb to multi TL a series)

+ there's a bunch of other mangas out there without anyone TLing them, sniping something that already has one of the best TLs on mangadex is as unecessary as drama on romcoms

also to add to my comment, for this translator in specific if you check their previous works
They only done 2 manga prior to this one
and abandoned both of them to snipe as those haven't been updated for 3 weeks (and i doubt both only have 1 chapter)

Basically THEY ALREADY HAD 2 MANGAS TO WORK ON BUT DENIED PEOPLE OF TRANSLATIONS ON THOSE SO THEY COULD SNIPE THIS ONE
So yeah, TL is as worse as comic condom

The fact that they didn't do it first or they're no longer only ones translating it makes them no longer interested. Absolutely reeks of "FINE!!! If I can't do it then you have it!!!!" as a tantrum is thrown and they walk away.

It would be one thing if the sniper who came in was uploading something more frequently with higher quality translations, typesetting, whatever. But that's not often the case.

Why would you waste your time working for free just to get your entire work ignored because someone with ChatGPT and 5 classes of how to photoshop on youtube uploaded 3 chapters ahead of you and everyone is reading their work instead
Your work is TLing for someone to read, if no one is reading, why would you still do it?

No adult would waste their time, that's definitely more childish than dropping a TL that doesn't get readers
