So the change of protagonist last chapter was a bit weird, but the switch back to the usuals with zero explanation feels even more jarring.

Now let's talk about what actually matters : grilling ! How is that wood plank not catching on fire ? Like, I get that you don't put it on when there's flames and wait until it's just embers, but can you really be sure a stray spark won't set it alight ?

thanks for the update lol, i wonder how many pressure points makes things worse for ppl, not that i'd wanna pay for it (tho apparently a handful of the 'massage' places around here got shut down for...well, reasons), tho i'm surprised they wouldn't also wanna at least go to a hot springs for their muscles together or so lol

or, given how efficient the train system is, depending on if it's not the same everywhere, they can go to a place where it's cooler in weather and bbq there lol

I mean, idk anything about camping or grilling but considering it was sold specifically for that purpose, it should be fine/come with proper instructions? (although a 2 hour soak seems excessive compared to 1 but there are literal overnight bbq competitions i've seen)

The answer is that the board was soaked for 2 hours, and the charcoal burns a few inches below it. Charcoal at its hottest will be around 600 deg F, but can burn as low as ~200deg F. Wood combusts between 400-600 deg F, and it would need to steam off all the water before it does.

It would likely catch if set directly on the coals, but up on the grill it's safe for the time required to cook fish filets.

Seeing her carrying the basket of fruit made me want to eat persimmons. Ripe persimmons are delicious! Ripe, soft, but still with some consistency.

This series has always been episodic, so it’s not that jarring

@EchoGirl @outinthegardener Thanks. I totally missed that it was the plank that was getting soaked for two hours, not the salmon. My bad. It totally makes sense then.
Also not 100% sure, but I wonder if they wrapped the plank in the foil as well, to keep in the smoke? Wrapping only the salmon in foil would slightly go against the smoking part.
