Spam accounts are often bots that advertise everything, nsfw stuff, essay writing stuff, traveling stuff. Their links most likely are malware waiting for fools to fall.

Would blocking the account in question and denying the friend request, then finding another friend request from the same person count as spam/bot?

On a related note, why can people you blocked still send you friend requests?

Although unlikely, they might be a real person who's just persistent in wanting to befriend you.

You can tell like 99.99% of the time when someone's a bot based on their bio and/or posts. If they're a bot, this is the place to report them.

why can people you blocked still send you friend requests?

Seems like a possible oversight. Will probably be fixed in v5.
