you apparently have some serious problems with reality here - there are lots of social and cultural pressures that cause people to "put themselves in boxes"
And I'm complaining about these pressures and those who spread them, am I not?
For a lot of people there's no need for them to ever climb out of the box, because their inclinations fit well enough into the constraints imposed on them that they never have any problems.
They fit in it because they've put themselves into a box — the historical evidence is hard to argue with.
As late as the 1850s in China, same-sex sexual intercourse was as common as opposite-sex, and then a century later, it's almost gone. How do you explain this? That the ancestors of the people that felt those desires a century back now no longer feel them? They don't feel them because they put themselves into a box and convinced themselves to suppress it.
It's quite clear that as soon as one creats a cultur where it's acceptable to simply do as one will, without such boxes, that behavior and taste starts to diversify significantly.
Constantly harping on about how people should just not be in the box in the first place is ridiculous and, frankly, offensive.
Then attacking pseudoscience is offensive to you.
“sexual orientations” are as much pseudoscience as, say, race, or
Myers–Briggs and it should be attacked similarly — there is no shown validity to the concept whatsoever.
And apart from that, I, in this case, criticized one specific character in one specific story that clearly went out to tell another character “No, you be like this, because it's against the rules I made up.”, even though the character clearly was like that.
