No because a romance story is about the designated couple and their relationship, what triangles and harem does is throw a sense of mystry over who the lead ends up in the end but still it should be established earlier and not thrown in later. To me, a good writer can have a girl come in halfway through and decelop her well enough to make her a compelling choice.
Most mangaka completely fail at writing.
the best way to avoid it is not having the first girl having a huge focus at the begging, then you can change the tropeShe had a arc about how she have to be a "good girl" if I am not mistaken because of how her parents died leading to her not being able to be herself but rather keeping a persona.
Also the one that got rejected had even less of a arc, I get why people latch to archtypes but not to the expense of the story as somehow their ship winning is the only thing that matters (not that I am accusing anyone of this yet), Jimi herself also havent done much, Hakua certainly had a higher impact on the story even if Takane have better chemistry with Inuzuka but I suppose is because they are similar in many ways.
First girl wins is because stories have a structure and having a random-ass girl showing up halfway and win is just being contrarian, the very few times it happens it just leaves a bad taste ... sometimes there are obvious leads and other times there aren but in the end its not up to who is first, there is a world of diference of Uruka and Yotsuba, starting how Uruka was the obvious designated loser.
You have a very limited view on writing. That is all I will say.No because a romance story is about the designated couple and their relationship, what triangles and harem does is throw a sense of mystry over who the lead ends up in the end but still it should be established earlier and not thrown in later.
When you throw a random girl halfway win you just make everything before the point she entered the story irrelevant because we arent reading a biography, the story structure is set around a specific frame that is not the character entire life, when people "ah yes, I would read it" are either naive because they wouldnt or even if they did, they would happen to be a tiny minority as well ignoring the author likely doesnt want to make a fictional biography, he wants to write about a specific story that have a beginning and a end.
And the argument writers should write biographies is ignoring its not the same structure as other stories nor is something people want to read because if the argument that halfway the "real" story begin then LotR should had started with Bilbo childhood and continued well after the Elves leave Middle Earth (it kinda does but its just a epilogue) and obviously it doesnt because it wants to be about a specific event and stories follow this structure.
What I do see a lot is contrarians that want to break down the story structure because they want to be contrarians, there is a reason why Seo after trucking Suzuka had written himself into a corner and why he never done it again.
It’s like when they played that dating sim in Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun where they said screw the girls, wingman bro deserves betterWhen best girl isn't even a girl. Vina is such a good friend.
Tbh, thinking back, unironically Vina has done more for him than everyone else.NGL i dont remember anything the blondie have ever done in the series, hopefully am just a forgetful person becasue i dont want the "I appeared first so am the one who win" situation.
