Yamato was always a weird case. People should have always took whatever Yamato identifies as with a grain of salt.

But Kiku is explicitly a trans woman who was portrayed perfectly well. The character that was clearly meant to be a trans representative not Yamato.

Its what the mangakas literally put in the works. So no, supporting trans people is not some "western only" thing.

I've seen a lot worse mangadex comments than what they got banned for. There was no slurs, or derogatory statements, just an observational opinion. Somehow that warrants a suspension?

Definitely seems like an overreaction, really stretching the definition of "transphobia", though we see that a lot these days honestly, everything and anything can be called transphobic and then banned or dismissed because of it.
