Time to state the obvious: I've got a very bad feeling about that cousin of hers. That guy is ambitious and wants her out of the picture. We know that so far. But he is also the person who sets up the "friendship" between her and the girl, that will later blame everything on her and will be the cause of her death. That was when she was around 15-17 years old in the prime/game timeline? (Let's call it the otome timeline.) That's the same ultimatum her cousin gave her to find a fiancée. I guess she gotta go till then, one way or another.

Here is my guess of what happened in the otome timeline: MC lost her fiancée with 10 and as there was no hope to gain a new one and she was so loved by her grandpa, she had to go and was sent of by her cousin to the capital into the "care" of that bitch. He himself, as a grey eminence, stayed in the background and manipulated the bitch to blame everything on her, to deal with her, just as planed. Even if he felt some compassion for his cousin, much of that might get lost in 5 years and she herself was a selfish pig, so...adieu.

But I fear all that compassion is also faked. He does give her this chance, because he already brown nosed his way into her heart (that's quite some invested time and effort there) and does not want to strain his relationship with their grandpa for no reason.

This would also mean, that avoiding Angela (the bitch), doesn't automatically mean her live is save. If he truly is the reason behind her otome timeline death, then she is still in danger, without even knowing.

@riflow Most probably. Cause if he was her cousin, if her parents are gone then his parents should've taken over. But her grandfather took over instead meaning that he's most likely the older brother of his father. That's how the hierarchy should work I believe...?
