Why do these sorts of stories have to be so saturated with pointless posturing. This could be enjoyable enough if it wasn't constantly oscillating between "Hahaha! My meta knowledge and god's blessing has ensured my win!" and "Oh no! Because I was fucking around and talking trash my enemy did something I didn't expect!". I'm a little curious about the overarching plot but with the progression we're getting so far it's a little disappointing to see MC be his own worst enemy, and not in a fun way.
The one specific plot point that might make this whole thing worthwhile is just the initial premise that goblins have been denied their one inherent strength, the size of their population. So more than half my enjoyment is not at all the MC's personal progression, it's the empire building sideplot.
