After speculating since the last chapter that Shrike was gonna be the one to go off on him for what he did, seeing his actual reaction as what it was (and that honestly, yeah, what we got is pretty in-character for him) sent my brain in a very specific direction.

Kohaku's body still being intact was a massive shock, perhaps an even bigger one than if it weren't. I didn't think it was rotten since the whole point was that she was not, but I thought for sure it would have been mangled from the crows.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT! this manga is amazing. It painted such a portrait of hopelessness but that was rope-a-dope, head fake and it wasn't never actually hopeless and he was never actually in despair, just in constant danger. That's so fucking rad, I love it.
