Is Hosoda's line in page 20 about "I love him" and "convey[ing] these feelings to him" one of those things where the subject of a sentence is ambiguous, so she could have just as easily been saying "you" (referring to Kei) instead of "him" (referring to somebody else), so the comedic misunderstanding comes from the characters incorrectly interpreting who she's talking about?

Lmao, I just noticed that now. It's only 610 yen. Lol. How did she only give him 610 yen for rent? Was she always this broke, or is she just stingy? But I guess the author did that on purpose to make the story funnier. (it can be our translators fault too) - but it didn't make the context weird, it made it more funnier
