so if those bolts weren't insta kill, the princess would have been wounded, but not dead?

The ring also tripled her defenses. I'm guessing that this stacks with the insta-kill block to form that forcefield.

I love this series and want to talk about it so I'm going to try and simplify what the priest said about the ring. So normally to get a 3x defense buff, a cursed ring would be detrimental to something else. Like 1/4 attack or speed. But gaile overwrote that debuff with a weaker one. Like a .01 damage increase with a .02 speed reduction, which is layered to negate the massive debuff. This would be done for other ones, eventually ending with a series of tiny buffs to get everything equal, tied to a curse that prevents removal.
