@Khulmach:

My assumption on why there were no harsh criminal sentences is simply because the person ultimately calling the shots at the end of the day is still the father of both princes, the Emperor. We know that the rule-of-law is a thing here, but we can also infer from early chapters (with the prince "requisitioning" her businesses) that they are not above royal influence and leverage around the edges of things.

Or I could be overthinking it and they'd only go after someone if the victim expressly presses charges. I think Japan has some stuff like that so it would make sense for the author to think that way.

As for why our protagonist wouldn't press for charges in that environment, I assumed that's political and/or strategic, certainly not mercy or defeatism. She knew what she wanted, for the greater good of racial peace and whatnot, and brought bear the full leverage in her hands to ask for it.

Of course, hell, for all we know they are still awaiting trial or sentencing, or were already sentenced and got a pardon. Or some were sentenced but lightly because all they have evidence for actual wrongdoing points merely to kidnapping and sexual assault but, y'know, if their society is as chauvinist as they let on during all that (that well-established-in-history, "well, he raped you, guess you gotta marry!" horrifying bullshit) maybe that just gets you a slap on the wrist and a couple month's house-arrest.

That wasn't the implication, of course—the implication was more that she wouldn't raise a fuss about what happened, and so no punishment was to follow.

To wit, I personally think them not getting their just desserts is both reasonably realistic and consistent with the level of cynicism in the work so far.

Why are you bringing a french constitution up?
Also no the people were not a factor in medieval european politics(in some cases they were such as peasant uprisings and the educated middle class ascending the ladder)
but politics in that period were decided by the nobility,merchants and religious leaders(king henry VIII did not ask the common man if they wanted to change denomination he just did it)

into it. prince and his pals deserves life in jail for messing with political affairs in such a warcrime way, attempted murder and rape and like just being?? idk??? he got off SO easy. even if rape sadly wasn't as "criminal" in this setting, shouldn't they be jailed for inciting a possible war and breaking the pact that they said was super important?

but either way, i'm happy for everyone else and their interactions make me extremely happy

"...They got what they deserved"?
No they didn't? Not even close? Are you retarded?
They weren't EVEN PUNISHED, FOR FUCK'S SAKE!
What a sad, sad, sad end development for the endin of an otherwise really enjoyable manga.

Okay her not bringing their crimes to light was so dumb and doesn’t make a drop of sense. The Crown Prince broke the Anti-War treaty by having the Sword Maiden attack and severely injure a monster without any provocation, kidnapped a noble woman, chained and bound her to a bed to r*pe her just to force her to become his concubine. I’m pretty sure all of these crimes would be enough to kick Cedric from the Crown Prince position. And when that did happen, Claude would automatically become the next Crown Prince. Not mention, if they made it public what those three did, then they would lose all support from the public anyways, so that would take care of that problem immediately.

god the ending to this is sooooooo good but it wouldve been stellar if those 3 idiots got their just desserts like seriously, would it ki// authors to give the real villains their proper punishments once in a while? ah whatever, clause and irene got what they wanted so that’s all that matters (even if this whole r/pe incident was swept under the rug) happy ending for my babies!

I love the couple and the story was nice, but I really wish those three bastards got punished, I mean one tried to r@*e the Fl and nothing happened? BS. If the author wanted to end on a light hearted note, they shouldn't have had the antagonists be so cruel and irritating.

Bel is kind of pathetic, but the fact that a crow demon is the one who bests him was a good choice: members of the genus Corvus, including crows, are among the more intelligent animals out there, despite the cultural impression of the avian intellect (not all birds are bird-brains). Since this is about linguistic ability, Almond being good at it is even more apt.

@Khulmach @Pokari
Rather than all of that, there is the distinct possibility that the fact being known would cause people to suspect that Prince Shithead had been successful, damaging her reputation. So Irene opted to use the crime as leverage instead. (Side Note: the word you're looking for definitely isn't "chauvinist" — I think you're confusing "male chauvinist," which only describes people, with "sexist patriarchy." Moreover, there are female chauvinist pigs, and they manage to be even worse than the male ones — the hypocrisy of it, you know.)

That's how despots handle things. If you want to recklessly open that can of worms, let's say the country will be going down hill sooner than later.

After re-reading this series, just realized it only mentioned once that Eileen has holy maiden blood (too?).
