I don't recall chapter 26 as part of the novel, but might have read it again. Still it was so gooood. I loved it!! This talk was what got readers hooked to the novel as they realized the sadness and truth behind rei's goofy behaviour. Loving the manga a lot!!!!

You're either sidestepping the issue I have, or you're interpreting that I take issue with this aspect of the story as a condemnation of the story as a whole. Nothing you said addresses my main issue, which is that:
-A person who is not Rei calls out Claire for thinking lesbians just assault people, and *specifically* calls her out for having no reason to think that way - in particular, she calls Claire out for being out of line in the way she rejects Rei, *heavily* insinuating that Rei hasn't done anything to warrant that.
-That means a person who has been routinely sexually harrassed (in a way that was portrayed as comedic and not-serious) is now having that harassment trivialized, even implied as never happening.
-I am
-I don't care that she had a rough life before. I am specifically taking issue with the narrative for making this a comedic, light-hearted romp, and then suddenly getting serious but ONLY in how Claire has treated Rei. Rei's treatment of Claire is brushed over.
-to reiterate - my problem is that the story's decision to get somber forces me to perceive Rei's previous actions in a negative light. If the story is serious now, if we're talking suicide and bullying, then I HAVE to take nonconsensual touching seriously too. The story wants me to ignore that, and I can't.

@Lemongrassv Where is the nonconsensual touching? Rei has gotten multiple nosebleeds from looking at Claire, but she has never touched Claire sexually. The most she's gone for is a hug in chapter 1 and she held her hands once or twice.

@Je_ez Ah okay I see where you are coming from. I don't really see a problem with it as long as this gets addressed later on in the story. Just like this is Claire's moment to learn, Rei can have a moment to learn as well. Saying that the story is wants us to ignore her violating Claire's personal space is a bit much considering there are only 7 chapters. And to be fair, she also hasn't done that since the first 1 or 2 chapters, implying that she may have realized her faults. Of course if it was never addressed and Rei continued to engage in skinship with Claire while Claire told her to stop, that would be an issue. Basically I'm saying that it is too early to assume that the story wants you to ignore that. It is quite possible that the story could address this in a later chapter, either through Rei admitting that what she was doing was wrong or another discussion. People can make stupid mistakes and violate people's personal space, but since it was pretty much capped at hand holding and 2 hug attempts (which were technically gags, as in she went for a hug so that she could get tea poured on her,) it isn't something that should be perceived as criminally wrong.

well we all know that some people thing gay tookens or queer bating is “good representation” I had seen this in games and especialy TV shows/series/movies and other media and it’s really dumb with how they just push an agenda for the sake of one not to make an character with personality, thous character personality is their sexuality, and it’s quite glaring to see, so I kinda understand way some people will see it that way with this chapter, but in Japan their haven’t yet accepted LGBT people so this chapter is for thous readers in japan, to send an message that bulling LGBT people ain’t ok etc.
I also like that Rei call BS on the “Love has no gender” when the majority of humans ar straigh and then we also have gay people that for them gender does matter since they only have same sex partners/lovers

The point being made in the chapter isn't what was done, but rather who it was done by. When Misha calls out Claire, she isn't saying that what Rei was doing was right or wrong, but rather that her reaction to it was informed by prejudice. Claire wasn't disgusted by what Rei was doing until she learned that she was gay.
Whether or not the non-consensual touching was okay or not is certainly a good discussion to be had, but it's not entirely relevant. While I can't speak in full confidence as to how often this happens other places, having experienced this kind of stuff as a girl, I can say full well that it probably isn't all that uncommon in the setting.
What's important to hone in on is who is doing it, not the action itself. Having gone through it first hand, it is incredibly alienating knowing that if everyone knew you were gay what was "messing around" a moment ago would suddenly turn into you being a perv. It fucking sucks knowing that you have a choice between being true to yourself, or being able to keep those close bonds with other people.
