That chapter just doesn't seem right, like, why did he even consume the poison if he was well aware that he will die and there is no guarantee that his mother will receive the treatment?

Also, Rei seems so unflinched for someone whose childhood friend is dying, yeah, she isn't the actual Rei but a transmigrated person but she literally acts like care. Even if she isn't Rei, she knew that guy more than Claire. It feels Eerie.
Remember Rei really doesn't care about anything in game aside from saving Clare. Including a childhood friend. Is it a bit psycho, sure, but she still largely sees them as NPC

This guy needed money, which he apparently got an advance on (he wonders if his employers will be pissed that he didn't give them a refund). So why did he not immediately buy the potion and secure his mother's wellbeing? His actions would make sense if he had healed his mother, and then was willing to die to complete his mission. The Empire might get revenge on him if he failed the mission but lived, so he was willing to die. But then Claire wouldn't get the chance to show how kind she is and heal the mother. So in order for Claire to be shown being kind, the story had to stop making sense.
Presumably he got some on advance and then was getting more later. Like 20% now, 80% after kind of thing. Or the cash up front and treatment post mortem

Right, but even if they had such a deal, he has no reason to believe they will hold their end of the bargain after he is dead. The "80% after" clause would mean he needs to be alive to cash in. Given his motivation, his actions can't be justified. It's better to live and take his mother into hiding to avoid retaliation for a failed mission than to die on the job and doom his mother. Maybe even ask his childhood friend, who is now apparently best friends with a rich noble, for the money. Or what, he's too proud to beg his friend for help but not to attempt to murder them?

Despite Rei being the main character, Claire is fulfilling that job more than Rei does. Her character arcs are very well developed and we're seeing her grow as a person in real time. I'm scared that maybe Rei will end up being the bad guy after all of this. Maybe the fact that she doesn't care about much except for Claire in this universe (as some of you have pointed out), makes her sacrifice everything just to save Claire. This is extremely similar to Life is Strange (spoilers for a certain video game).

Not to mention the butterflies at the start of the chapter on page 4. I think the butterfly effect is the underlying focus of this story. "A slight flapping of wings becomes a big wave." Maybe Rei's choices will end up causing something bigger and change the story so much that she won't know exactly what to expect and can't plan accordingly like she always does. We've already seen it happen here, and they almost died because of it.

Is it Just me or is Rei really less empathetic? She knew that guy for a while and she couldn’t care less when he suddenly betrayed them.. Claire despite being the “villainess” has far more empathy and emotional intelligence than Rei..
I don't want to spoil but... she is somewhat like that.
You would understand If you meet the other version of herself.

Bro what this came completely out of left field
"Oh yeah btw im evil and ill kill myself now so I can become a zombie in a suicide attack"
And then they just kill him and nobody really seems to care?
This entire chapter was really cruel and heartless
Like that one girl casually admitting to raping people this manga keeps having weird as fuck lapses
Its like watching a kids show and a character just straight up fucking dies and nobody acknowledges it

MC is really morally grey... I get she's a not my world not my business person but still, even i felt bad for the guy... And there are certain expectations of a protagonist no? On that note Claire is really becoming protagonist material... And with a clear character development too. Rei is just....annoying.

Rei is just the lesbian archetype. Can't expect her to develop unless it's becoming straight. Issue with the idea of the world being a game is that outside of the small cast, everyone is a "npc" and doesn't matter. A lot of manhua, manhwa, and manga fall into this trap of treating everyone but the main cast as throwaway roles with very little room to go.

And Rei is far from a lesbian archetype like where are you pulling these takes from??😭Girl has nothing typical lesbian going for her other than liking claire... Which I personally think not so much in a lesbian way..

Novel. More so because the author starts to lose focus and Rei starts to fall wayward while Claire starts developing.

It means she won't go through a significant change unless the author decides she's straight all of a sudden. She is sort of a set character by this point and the story could have ended by skipping into the adopted children end, but now it's gonna be a lot of meandering by the author.

I dont think you get it.... Its a silly little yuri isekai... There is no magnificent world endangering plot. Yet. I merely stated my disappointment in her not being protaganistic enough. I dont know why you would bring up "a turn straight" troupe into this. And how in the world can that be considered an upgrade or character development even. This is a yuri manga. So weird.

I thought they were just gonna fight as is until Louis went and did the insane act of turning into undead to fight them. He took a poison to kill himself and immediately use the ring to bring him into an undead state...

So he was hired to kill a noble. But I don't think there's any turning back from that undead state and it's weird if he was only motivated by his mother's condition to do it, because that prevents him from directly helping her assuming he even wins the battle. But if this was an act driven by despair seeing the girl he loved love someone else, it gets a little bit more... understandable. It's the "If I can't love you then I'll just kill you, your lover and myself" kind of yandere madness.
