What the heck...why did they have to change her skin color??? I understand she was blessed with darkness which resulted in her dark skin and hair. BUT are you trying to say all the suffering she had to deal with while growing up CAN MAGICALLY DISAPPEAR IF SHE TURNS WHITE when she gets blessed by the Light Goddess?

It’s basically saying Light is better than Dark. White is better than Black. Now you have everyone treating her differently because she doesn’t have her dark skin and now she’s blessed with a kiss. That all will be well if you are “white”. Maybe that’s not what the author was trying to convey, but it really caused me to feel weird and uncomfortable by how this was done..they should’ve gave her the blessing of Light, but because Darkness is her main power she still looks the same. Or instead of making her skin lighter..

Atleast I’m glad she is feeling frustrated and sad by the fact that everyone around is trying to erase what they’ve done to her. She has every right to be. Fuck them all!

Many feelings on this chapter.

I guess to begin with, Booooooo! In the words of HaruParty, WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY MILK CHOCOLATE GODDESS?!?!
In more eloquent and clear words, I liked her look more with darker skin. It made her distinctive and, more importantly, openly marked her for everyone to judge by her actions of their own accord.
I'm sure the blessing comes in handy, but right now it's more of a curse than a blessing. Stupid Grace just crippled her ability to make friends even more. Claudia is now gonna get swarmed by opportunists and people that used to reject her, and it's going to leave a bad taste in at least my mouth every time. Especially her mother and father.

And on that note....YEAAAAH! Stick it to those bastard non-parents! They deserve no forgiveness, their playing the victim just makes them even more jackasses, and she might as well cut ties with him as soon as she's able to live independently. Fuck 'em.
Also satisfying to see Amelia get shut down HARD by both spirit kings and called out for being the bitch she is.

TLDR; Yes, indeed, it is BS. But that's the whole point. The comment section right now is the result they were going for. The reaction they wanted.

My reaction before reading comments:
Lmaooooolookatthisshitoooo.

After reading comments:
There's a message here. People who are saying "it's just fiction" are acting like they don't know how stories work. Ever since mankind started storytelling, there have been messages and lessons in them. Whether the takeaway is fear, love, sadness, happiness, etc, there is also a feeling the creator wants to evoke. Here, the audience should feel angry because Claudia is angry. And the message this chapter is "Headassery At It's Finest".

I don't think the creators are endorsing whitewashing, but bringing light to the issue and open discussions regarding it. They made Claudia angry, which sends the message "hey, something isn't right. This is upsetting, this is messed up". If everything was sunshine and rainbows, THEN they're sending the message that "white (pale skin) is right".

The whole story revolves around how wrong it is that she's being mistreated for things that are out of her control. It really be like that though. Ppl will treat someone like a disease, and take advantage of them when convenient. "Ew you look bad and dirty, and your physical/mental strength scares me...so I'm going to constantly degrade you. But the only time I'll acknowledge your strength is when I want you to be our mule and save us...". As an Afro-Amer, RELATEABLE. But a lot of ppl around the world can relate (that's so sad). But this is probably mainly about tan Asians because they see white unblemished skin as the standard of beauty, and there are hella tan Asians who get crap for their dark skin.
And I'm sure ppl of various races, nationalities, genders, status, etc can relate to ppl treating them ass but then their talents get recognized, they become more confident, their looks become fashionable/desirable/profitable, or they glow up in some other way, and all of a sudden it's a shit show. The very ones treating them ass are now buzzing around because they got a whiff of it. Shoo, Fly.

Anywho, the story should upset you. It was meant to be upsetting.

I really love her reaction that she'll still hold to her grudges after everyone did a 180 degree stance on treating her.

Whitewash to show how bias those people are. At least the skin change drive the plot further and not everything magically become good again.

the AUDACITY of her parents to suddenly order her around as if they actually had the right to influence her life is infuriating. they wanted to reap the benefits of her suffering THAT THEY TOOK PART IN and tried to grab onto her influence with their disgusting hands. they thought they were entitled to her support and that is REVOLTING AHHHHHHHH SCREAM

I don’t particular like how the FL had to run away. I can completely understand why she ran away but that doesn’t mean I can relate to it in any way whatsoever. She was at a moral high ground. Her parents tried to paint themselves as the victim (like always) and she was having none of that. She had every right in the whole god damn world to be furious at them. And she just... ends up running away? Feels like a cop out in such a horrible way. PLUS! I don’t like HOW the scene of her running was portrayed either. I swear to ever loving god if she forgives them ANY TIME SOON, I’m going to fake send death threats to the author because that’s what internet people do.

Everyone crying about her skin, but it's a good plot point, it's showing how despicable and double-faced are those people
