I feel like the quality of the TL has markedly decreased. Or maybe author had some kind of life crisis. I'm not always following wtf is going on. Feels like translation.

Its actually a really nice manga, but the gender bender is unnecessary. But I think they just skip things in novel which is i dont read
The gender change is not a problem for the hero in the story, I feel like there are things missing in this webtoon.

In the novel, I feel like it wasn't rushed at all. We spend quite a few chapters focusing on the events that led up to the him turning into a girl.

Edit Wow the first chapter is a dumpster fire. Literally skipped everything that led up to the TS, and skips ahead.

Why is there a genderbend aspect to the story? It barely adds anything to the story other than being a cover for his real identity as the OP legendary battle mage, but it didn't need to be a genderbend for that.

It's a weird take on the retired op hero / rebirth / power fantasy tropes but the challenges Raniel faces have nothing to do with his new gender but rather a new identity because no one knows who he is. It's unexplored and lazy, if you change it from genderbend to a vanilla rebirth/isekai then it doesn't change the story at all.

Raniel seems completely asexual as well, may as well be a Goku expy. This is like Ranma 1/2 but the story just avoids mentioning anything about the genderbend or anything remotely lewd, it's extremely jarring. A retired hero power fantasy rebirth genderbend series, but it somehow keeps it extremely classy (other than Raniel having a ridiculously huge chest).

This is average, the plot flow is messy but is digestible, the art is okay and action can be better
Tldr: fast food manga

Not that ridiculous. There are far larger in brown dust 2. But it's basically cuz there was TS kind of thing at some point for authors and a lot of them wrote a TS where either it's isekai or it's like magic TS but nothing changes.

I thought this was a good read. MC was just a cocky arrogant man. I don't feel like he's strong. It just looks like to me that the author just want to make him look strong but no impact at all. So far I've only seen the MC use repetitive skills like Smite, Enhancements, etc. no actual offensive magic or whatnot. Fight scenes looks dull.

I'm currently going through the novels of this on amazon. (I'm on vol 8 of the 11 listed, with release apparently ongoing.)

I love this series! I'm currently on vol 8 of the translated novel via Amazon/Kindle.

Feels like it's written for adults rather than teenagers. MC is about 25 yo, and pretty much acts that way. Genius, but decent guy (girl now). Has character growth appropriate to that age. MC's time is split between teaching (with focus on outstanding, future hero/heroine students), and various massive incidents. While MC is extremely good, he's not "blessed" by the world (stars). Many of her battles are very difficult without easy wins. And she's already paid massive price for wins (and escapes from disasters) in the past.

Quitting/Kicked from the party... Avoids all the usual tropes. MC is not some doormat loser (quite the opposite). And the hero party, while suffering from personality problems, is legitimately competent. The cause of the quit/kick is more complicated than it first appears. Also, MC was known and well respected. (Sure many people focused on the Hero, but MC had plenty of stans as well.)

Demon Lord: It's complicated. Background lore takes a long time to develop, but story does get there, and it is important.

Gender Swap: Yeah, the story could be pretty much the same without it. Main relevance to plot is that very few people learn that the MC "Rania" is the same person as the previous male "Raniel". But the swap is also somewhat emblematic of Raniel/Rania's character growth -- so it's a good use of the GS trope.

As for the manga version... It's what I started on. It's not bad, and I enjoyed the visuals, but... it feels like it's pitched at teenagers. Though of course, manga necessarily present simplified versions of text novels, so that's not entirely surprising.
