I feel like a broken record but I have to point out that without a Yuu POV I have to give him some benefit of the doubt. I think him not talking to Hikari about her mood (which he did notice) was a combination of him being mind-fucked from the previous Yami encounter and his nervousness about confessing to Hikari. The confession is a culmination of 10 years of pining. I think that's really why he ignored every warning sign and bulldozed his way through.

I think I haven't conveyed properly I'm not saying he is a bad person when I said he only thinks about himself and some people has taken this very badly (not necessarily you did, I think, but I'm using this comment as an example, this is not an answer directly to you per se), that's why I said in another comment it doesn't matter to me if it's out of selfishness, obliviousness, preservation or whatever, his actions show this.

Before I was in the same boat of "we don't really know because there isn't his pov" but the more things go on, it's more clear to me he doesn't think much of others regardless of external happenings. Is a justification for his failed confession being jolted by his previous encounter with Yami and being nervous of the moment? Maybe, we don't know, but the fact is he still went on when alarms were going off with Hikari. Whenever you want to think he is bad or just or a victim of circumstance, I don't think it really matters.

I don't know why you're so focused on that. We even saw Hikari's thoughts on this - she is sure he thought she was angry because of the broken promise, and he was just too shaken by the whole incident with Yami to notice smaller details. And don't forget that between that moment and the confession they also danced and it felt like she was in good mood again.

I'm mostly answering to people who want to rebate me about that and that has been ongoing for 2 chapters, that's why I'm saying this, some people look like they have been attacked for saying Yuu did some things wrong and I thought I need to clarify my position. And I'm not sure about that last part, I think it was a very tense moment in itself. And there is her behaviour in the empty class saying let's go home and that. She wasn't her.

I agree with this, not because I think he's a villain or anything of the sorts. But I said this a few times over the discussions of these chapters: consequences come from actions, not merely thoughts. Most things that happened so far are the consequences from these characters actions, including Hikari who might've been able to have nabbed him during the summer vacation, before this school festival, but never made a move.

And because of this I think your move of Yuu's actions are fair to a point, he's bad at getting a read on people and expressing himself and this, it doesn't matter where this comes from, he gives the wrong answers at the wrong times way too often. At some point someone had to give him a reality check and make him wonder what's wrong with how he approached romance and relationships in general and he got that twice in the same day.

No, some people get into dates or playing around without having their feelings on it or maybe as a change of pace. We have discussed this in previous chapters.

That doesn't shield them against the consequences of their actions, of course, but to say people only date because they are in love is very reductive. And people is also contradictory, I can believe Yuu kept loving Hikari while dating Yami. Whenever you think he is a pos for doing that and is something you would never do, that's another thing, but those things happen.

I mean, Hikari knows that Yami is full of crap and that the things she said in this chapter weren’t coming from the “real Yami,” but it was all just so low and toxic. There should be a limit to how much someone can try to be the better person, even for a character like Hikari. Yeah, I don’t like it.

I mean, Hikari knows that Yami is full of crap and that the things she said in this chapter weren’t coming from the “real Yami,” but it was all just so low and toxic. There should be a limit to how much someone can try to be the better person, even for a character like Hikari. Yeah, I don’t like it.

I sympathize with her even now when she is being the most bitchass loser ruining everything around her, I want her to realize how much of a moron is she being and make up for that. On the other side, I really cannot get over the pimping incident. That was so vile. So I think she should get better. And then far away. And she can take Yuu with her.

I wouldn't mind if Yuu and Yami get together if they fixed themselves, but I think Hikari should be given the best deal in exchange. I'm starting to not joking when I say I want a good boi hunk to bump into her and run away from this negativity hole these two goobers are trying to drown her in. Holy shit as a Yuu hater I just typed up a little essay and basically gaslit myself into liking Yami as a character and hating Yuu even more?

TLDR; If you want to play with fire (Yami) then getting burnt is on you and Yuu is the reason both Yami and Hikari are even crashing out in the first place

This might be the hottest take here but in my opinion Yuu is objectively the worst person here. is Yami a complete and total bitch? absolutely, but both of them KNEW that going in when they met her and they're the ones who forced their way into relationships with her even after the shit she pulled on them. You don't get to put your hand over a fire and cry because it burns you. I also want to argue that her perspective is crashing out because it turns out the only guy she's ever liked is childhood friends with the person who's basically her only friend and not only do they like each other, but she basically got in between them and got pushed aside anyway. It makes perfect sense that a damaged character like her would self destruct and lash out.

On the other hand, Yuu has no fucking balls and never actually takes into consideration anyone's feelings but his own because he only cares about himself and what he wants. It's crazy to me how many people give Yuu a pass for sleeping with Yami while he was crushing on Hikari just because he's a teenager like he can't have any self control or self respect. Not to mention the fact that he did make 0 effort to reach out or check on Yami at any point after she cut him off? literally 0 effort? You can't even say he was respecting her wishes because as soon as he saw her again he jumped right back into it. There's also all of the lying by omission on top of the straight up lying out of convenience. Yuu is absolutely not innocent nor is he the one who got the short end of the stick out of the three of them. He's the only one here who had the agency to do the right thing multiple times and fail at every given opportunity.

Hikari is definitely the best person here which is ironically what her flaw is. No one told her to extend a hand out to Yami and she really should have taken the hint after the compensated dating fiasco but she didn't; and arguably her friendship with Yami wouldn't have ever even had an issue without the existence of Yuu but here we are. Even now she's trying to do the right thing and help out the relationship between Yami and Yuu at the cost of her own happiness (even if she'd 100% be better off cutting them both out of her life and moving on).

I think this chapter was pretty good and summed up the gist of the plot and characters pretty well. Yami is damaged and self destructive so she pushes people away, Yuu deserves everything that happens to him for being so indecisive and cowardly, and Hikari was too passive and willing to give people the benefit of the doubt, so now she has to deal with both of their flaws.

Hikari also had the perfect point as to why I'm a Yuu hater out of all of them: in her mind Yuu would never have done any of that if he didn't have feelings for Yami. In other words while crushing on Hikari he decided to go for the girl he had a shot with and caught feelings, then came crawling back when it didn't work out because he didn't really care that much in the first place compared to Hikari, except he also downplayed it hard and shrugged off his relationship with Yami now that he knew he had a chance with his original crush. He basically caused the entire crashout for all parties.
