Context doesn't matter. One does not go for their bff's love interest behind their back. With MC even seeing that, this is a friendship-ending event in my book. It's one thing if he went for a kiss - that may just be MC misunderstanding his interest in her. But her friend going for one? That's a clear betrayal.

No matter the circumstance for their breakup, that doesn't excuse her going in for the kiss. Going after your best friend's crush without them knowing is a scummy move, full stop. It's not like Yuu was with Ami at the time and Hikari was going after Yuu.
