I don't mind the twist, if she moves on an finds someone else.

Him coming to her school for her festival and making out with some other girl is such a dick move, he doesn't deserve redemption. Same as the friend. She's better off without either.
That's unfair to the dude. From what it looked like to me the guy didn't come here for the ntr girl. And in this argument we can clearly see the girl force herself on the guy. Now I can't tell if he kissed back or not but it doesn't seem like he came to ACTUALLY (epiphany) he didn't want to come at all. Main girl forced dude to come, dude bumped into ex, ex forced herself on dude. He didn't do shit wrong.

Like the MC, everyone projected their feeling on the dude as well i guess. We don't know how he feels at all so you can not blame him. This is like a loser heroine perspective at this point.

Also, rereading chapter 12 can show you that hints were always there (hell, re read the whole thing. there are a lot) Now we also know why he didn't want to come with her in the first place. This is just author's way of saying "don't assume shit". Remember, we have never shown exclusively that dude actually loves her as well outside of some teenage hormons moments. (like sitting back to back chapter)

Uh... guys. Not to be that guy, but this is not NTR. The guy was kissed by surprise, he did not embrace her, so there is no confirmation that her feelings are mutual. But Aya-chan is... well, sort of a traitor. Poor Hikari.

I'm so curious as to the average increase/loss of viewcounts when twists like these happen in manga. Like, is this form of writing ever worth the reward? Because I feel like this is good writing, but will there ever be a form of ending that can make this chapter's shock value not feel like a stain to most? Will this not just see people staying for a few more chapters, not liking how this turned after this chapter, and then an exponential amount of droppage?

Either way, I'm personally not too bothered by this. It's not what I expected at all, but I hadn't heard of the author's other works. I do truly want to see what the author is cooking up, because I can at least understand the narrative direction they're wanting to take.

He ghosts her texts to meet up with the ex.

The closest thing I can compare this to is this scenario:

A chef is cooking you a multi course meal. It's not perfect, but it's getting better with every dish that comes out. This latest specific dish is pulling out all the stops: The chef brings out all the sides, the condiments, that go with the main course. Right when he puts out the main course, right before you attempt to pierce the food with your fork, the chef proceeds to pull out a giant cartoon hammer and destroy the food and the table in front of you. You ask "why?" and he proceeds to say "LOLZ"
