Controversy sells but sells more in the long run when it is well-written and cohesive. This is neither but should be fine for the short-run. It's like Frieren and MT. Frieren gets the normies because it is a vanilla story that hits the fantasy beats well so its hits are great initially but MT wins the long game because its character writing, relationships and plot are more engaging even if it is controversial. Hemmingway made a career doing this. His first book was his most controversial and was banned in several countries but it is still his best-selling book of all time. Hemmingway's own mother called The Sun Also Rises trash when it came out.

Literally what we have the most these days are mangas where the main girl is practically a whore who sleeps with any guy in front of her while the MC is a complete virgin. Not to mention that in this manga the MC wasn't even dating the Main Girl at that moment, there was no cheating at all.
