With only untreated wood to work with, probably couldn't make a parish pump because of wood rot.

But does preservation magic negate that issue? Regardless:
Literally can't work since the gears interlock with both each other and the slats/tread. Middle gear is trying to push the conveyor opposite direction compared to the other two gears.

I thought she was going to setup a pulley system to make it easier to lift the water up. I can't figure out where the inspiration for this pump comes from, screw, spiral, pitcher, piston, force, there's a half dozen pump styles that in the 15th to 19th century that could be made in a small village and they were all much less complicated (and all more functional) than this thing.

Jason's Blade? It's definitely that Jason. I don't know why Friday the 13th is so popular in Japan but I've seen a lot of references to Jason in manga.

Also, yes, the water well is hilarious.

@SteveJust I'm guessing the author just thought about waterwheels and figured it would be enough to convert the wheel into a belt to fit it in a well, without thinking too much about it.

Definitely threw me for a loop to see her build this thing and not just a typical suction pump, though.

Wow they change the Raw version of the manga
The version of water wheel from the Raw version seems more legit than that
