Even in mangas like these we cant escape the isekai/regressor "holier than thou noble thats going to be underhanded and sketchy for revenge to show how great the MC is"

Cheap drama for useless padding seems like an iron-clad rule for these kinds of stories
editor need author to prolong the plot somehow

Huh? I don't see what a lot of people were complaining about in this arc.

MC rejected the duel and the conditions, still studied anyway because, hey, good reminder he needs good grades, and performed well.

Other people were talking about like the MC accepted the duel for FMC?
People complained because it took 10 chapters to finish, as if prolonged enough to generate money. After this arc will be less tension events ...

Serves him right. All enemies "of fate" are disposable in this novel.
I don't read the series entirely, but hopefully Shinichiro goes after them, all of the people who caused Haruka to suffer and commit suicide in the other timeline

With such bad attitude, he scored 2nd?! No wonder he's being such a cocky brat.
Had the MC not been there, he would've been always the 1st with bad attitude.

I'll agree that this is pretty pointless but I genuinely think there was nothing overly bad about this arc. Mr. Over-inflated Ego didn't get support when mc was accused of cheating the moment they saw the test results, and we basically got to see more of the mc's personality in regards to situations he can't just ignore. I'm a bit happy seeing the development that he at least has a competitive spirit considering he always spoke like an adult who always knew better
