I can't wait to see the father's reactions to finding that her friend, is a guy! I hope he doesn't get overly animated like the last dude.

The mother seems great, I could imagine if she was voiced by Inoue Kikuko and doing the "mother knows something father doesn't" chuckle.

Lastly, the sister is such a great wingman. They need more of her.

The whole time she was describing him I was wondering if she would ever stop saying "they" and say "he" lol. It did seem like she did say "he" once but the dad didn't catch it
There's no he in japanese from what i've been told (or fully gendered pronouns and the likes), so that would be on the translators for deciding on it. It's language quirks that people tend to forget

iirc, there is no 'he/she word' in Japanese. It's 'That person'. Please correct me if I'm wrong:korone:
There are he/her words in Japanese; they're 彼 "kare" for he/him and 彼女 "kanojo" for she/her, respectively. They're just basically never used in regular speech, because Japanese is very much about context clues.

Typically, they use gender neutral second person pronouns when discussing other people, as it's felt the gender should be obvious or is unimportant to the conversation; they translate into things like "this person", "that person", or "that other person", with varying levels of politeness.

There are actually. The dad's head would absolutely explode because of it though, given the secondary meaning of it.
彼, Kare. He/Boyfriend, 彼女, Kanojo. She/Girlfriend

That said, to my understanding, it isn't exactly a normal way to go about talking typically. You'd use it if you know the listener needs the context, otherwise it'd be more common to just use the family name or one of the various "that person" terms if it's not omitted entirely in the first place.

God that conversation was such a pain to read. I am fully aware that gendered pronouns aren't nearly as common in Japanese, but articulating "that person" every single time just comes off extremely clunky. Did they seriously specifically use "that person" that many times in the raw, or did GDS just forget to use "they" like any normal English speaker would?

she probably using gender neutral term like "my friend" and just simply not including the subject in the sentence, which common in Japanese conversation but can be hard to translate.

also as far as I know, the gender pronounce subject are kind of "rude" in some context and using "name-san" directly are more common. she's rich girl after all, she know manner.
