That's what I feel like. I adored Sensei Can't Teach me Love especially because of the art. Potential cringiness of the plot (teacher/student sorta-romance-at-a-distance) aside, and the rushed, awkward ending, it was adorable and I loved almost all of it.

Here we get the same art that reminds me of that series, but we're 8 chapters in and I want to take a baseball bat to multiple characters because everything and everybody is just. so. freaking. DUMB.

What's interesting is that this author has one other title listed on Mangadex, a josei romance series that also has a separate artist, but has 0 translated English chapters for me to use as a point of comparison of writing quality (though just using the Mangadex rating, it's lower than this. But how this story has an 8.39 is baffling even when you account for the fact that people generally don't understand how scales out of 10 are supposed to work.).

And I know this just isn't going to end up a translator issue because Toruscans normally does a pretty solid job.

Maybe this is a case of a josei author trying their hand at shonen and being drastically out of their depth?

It's wholesome, so it has a great reviews, this is how mdex works most of the time :/

There's a manga that's just called the giant and the sister, and it's probably the best written thing i've seen on mangadex
Having skill issue with titles doesn't inherently makes your work bad

Well, I'm not a fan of Shigeru just getting away with everything because Eiji appreciated his interactions. Shigeru was mostly bullying him, but as a loner, Eiji must have seen that as a popular guy teasing him. But I guess that just means Shigeru will appear in later chapters.

At least Hikari is supportive of the relationship! Even if she does still hold affection for Eiji, she's letting Aoi have him. She has the scrunchie on her arm, which is good character development. And she's willing to be their friend! I hope she appears more, she's a cute girl.

That title is inherently more inviting than this one. This title is also trying to lure in lonely readers, that title is intriguing with the contrast it has between something normal and something fantastical.

Yeah, I get that impression as well, but there's a difference between expecting people to be good, and having a flower garden for a brain. That character type is usually used as a strawman for being too naïve for his own good, or a joke character.

Why are you exaggerating people's expectations for the purpose of making your argument stronger? There's a difference between expecting good writing and expecting something to not be garbage. In that gap there's also decent writing, mediocre writing, and crap writing that still works.

Personally I don't care that much. It's a part of the manga you can ignore, because it's probably not why we read it in the first place.

tbh i do agree that Eiji's reaction is dumb and makes zero logical sense. but then again his reaction and perspective is probably what Aoi loves most about him, so him acting against that would not give Aoi a consistent reason to have fallen for him.

Jealous bastard didn't change at all. Even in his backstory he's still pretty much a jerk who I guess was using Eiji as a foil to make himself look good. I'd love to pair him up with fellow emotional abuser Hikari, but if she's gonna change for the better then he deserves to be alone.

I have mixed feelings about how quickly Hikari got "redeemed" considering there surely has been an innocent guy or two who she seduced and betrayed for money, like how Shigeru is a playboy who has insincerely dated and dumped other girls in school until he started gunning for Aoi.
