I honestly don't know if this is where I should post this, but a series seems to have vanished from the site. The series was called Noraneko Shoujo to no Kurashikata by Shiina. Fairly typical semi-romantic 18+ JK lives with salaryman story, but since I heard it recently ended I wanted to read it. But the series and article no longer exist. If the translations had all disappeared or been blocked I would understand, as I get the recent blocks and I've seen translations removed before (I'm 99% sure there used to be translations for a few volumes of Sannensa that are now gone). However, the series no longer exists at all, nor the author, and I cannot even post about this in the (still existing) threads made for the series and individual chapters as I get an error message saying the series doesn't exist. I'm just curious what happened. There are plenty of series posted without translations, but I've never seen an entire series simply disappear before.

It was brought to my attention by one of our readers, that the whole series page for How to live with a Stray Cat Girl by Shiina went missing on MD (This is a title my group is currently working on finishing). Now other titles by that artist hasn't been deleted from the site the same way, so what happened to this manga's page? Are we not allowed to create this page anymore. There was no takedown noticed for this title, and I'm trying to get an explanation for what happened. It's a curious case of what the heck is going on. We'd like to continue using the site to host the series chapters on, but if it's not allowed, so be it. We'd just like a definitive answer on this issue to keep moving forward with our releases.

It was confirmed that the title was intentionally removed, but no reason has been given as to why.

Posting this may get me in trouble but fuck it.
Could someone please give us an explanation?
Is a little transparency asked too much ?
why dont just remove the chapters like usual but the whoke title page ?

I had that one on my list, too. But can anyone confirm for me if it was tagged loli? Because I've also noticed a purge of loli+mature works since I last checked (no specific works, but my search filter settings went from 20 pages to 19 pages, and I think it's moreso recent stuff that went missing). I'd be really mad if they want to purge loli out of nowhere without saying a thing.

Unless this goes beyond just loli, but I've also seen that there hasn't been a single loli+mature upload in like 3 weeks across all languages.

EDIT: Through forum search I also found at least 4 recently uploaded Blue Archive doujin that are now gone (and unsurprisingly those that don't feature big boobed badies).

EDIT 2: I checked the first ten pages of the Series Discussions and found 9 removed manga. Looking them up on other sites, they are:
  • 7 tagged as loli
  • 1 tagged as shota
  • 1 AI slop
I'm not saying it's every lolisho, but always a lolisho (excluding the one AI slop outlier)

I hope this is not the case but its not entirely imposibble. Look at the mire legal aproach the site has been taking after the purge. Mature content has been under attack from varous directions for a while.

Please MD staff, be honest, open and transparent about this.

Since i dont connect my accounts i cant prove it now but i support the site over on NC with 20 bucks a month for a long time now.

I might consider dropping this support if things go on like this

The protags possessed developed secondary sexual characteristics, so even calling this "loli" is a bit of a stretch. Regardless, even if you're an avowed enemy of all things loli, this decision should bother you. Who's going to trust a library that denies patrons' access to books when they feel like it, and with no explanation?

EDIT: Move over Al Capone, this era has a new Valentine's Day Massacre

Got all but solid confirmation, that titles are being removed for "legal reasons"...

Take that how you want but it's extremely disappointing that this is happening and even more so that it's trying to be done in the dark.

Legal reasons?
Is it copyright?
Is it because loli = bad?

Everythings going to shit.
If you have to do it ffs at least be open ans honest about it and make an announcement

I haven't seen an ad on the site for a while.
Maybe this is an operation to make the website more advertiserfriendly.

I wanna say Texas is involved, but How to live with a Stray Cat Girl could be ambiguous and tagged as petite, and not loli because the heroine is 18. Goddamn artist had to make the heroine look like a loli...

FYI I suggest that further discussion about this be moved outside of support unless there is something that absolutely needs an answer from the moderators and other staff

Over in the news sub-forum
https://forums.mangadex.org/threads/mangadex-to-purge-titles-for-legal-reasons.2552508

EDIT: Nevermind thread was locked because of the "misinformation" caused by the lack of an official statement from Mangadex

EDIT EDIT: Looks like some cooler heads came out on top and the thread and news was unlocked

Okay, something related to this news, and with what I pointed out, but could we bring it back without the loli tag because it's clearly inaccurate to the main character. The main heroine is a high schooler. It's the same BS that I faced on another site regarding a character who wasn't loli, but kept on getting incorrectly tagged because people weren't paying attention to who the character was. Let me know if that'll fly because I'd like to keep (and upload) this series on MD in a legal way.

And we have the answer : it's due to the 3.1.1 section in the content policy : "Illegal Content, in particular, child pornography, child abuse and drug abuse."

Strange implementation, since it's not illegal everywhere.

Yeah, the titles we work on isn't depicting minors. We only are working on titles that have a plot, but is R18, so I'm hoping there's so leeway to continue posting Stray Cat Girl chapters on MD, but if the admin is going to act like the admin of e-hentai.org, fine. Hopefully this doesn't hurt my standing with uploading stuff.

Kind of sad that Stray Cat Girl got dumped. Frankly I always thought it was weird that it was marked under the "Loli" tag. Best I could tell from the content it looked like the heroine was close to graduation and thus 18 minimum. She was short and flat, but that's hardly odd for an 18-year-old.

Probably should have given her hair down there like the artist did for the adult guy if they wanted us to believe she was past puberty.
Considering how few series give women hair down there at all, it's hardly demonstrative of anything. From what I've seen and heard, it's more a matter of individual variations and the fact that more women trim things that a lot of men don't.
