A few things:
#1 Internet Explorer is not the same as Edge, in fact, I have to swap to IE 12 to use eclectic old apps that don't work with any new browsers and it keeps telling me to "upgrade" to Edge.
#2 Bing isn't dead, and could arguably be said to be more relevant than Edge, if only due to the fact that it's apparently the best porn search engine which is something Microsoft does not like to advertise.
#3 Edge IS Chrome in the near future, because Microsoft gave up on spending money improving Edge's engine, so they're just taking Chromium and sticking an "Edge" skin over it, basically.
#4 While Edge is actually a good browser, that stupid looking symbol that looks like a lowercase e with a slicked back haircut and a smirk gets to me, and makes me not want to use it.
#5 Internet Explorer's far from irrelevant, made fun of, or useless, if only because it's the only browser that a lot of corporate and medical web-apps work on, so it won't die for ages because it's too expensive and hard to port those web apps to a new browser. Well, at least until it's too late or almost too late, and the damage from waiting so long's been done.
Edit: Also, this comic's gotten way too melodramatic for my tastes, it's not fun anymore. Also, Google and Microsoft both suck as companies, don't care about this "climactic" fight. "Modern and User Friendly" That's not Google anymore. "Change things for the sake of change and make everything worse, then shut down apps / programs because 'Oh hey, we got bored', let's make a cloud gaming service nobody asked for, then shut it down in 2-3 years" is what Google is now.
Microsoft? It's kind of a mix between the stodgy old company it used to be, and some of the worse aspects of what Google is / was, like "Hey let's change things for the sake of change and break everyone's workflow, and add a feature that literally might cause you to miss important e-mails because you can't see them anymore!"
