@Maala Because any kind of solid projectile continually loses velocity as soon as the propulsive effect stops - in this case, as soon as it leaves the barrel. This creates a (I think it's logarithmic, or maybe exponential) scale in which the amount of velocity the bullet loses massively increases the further it travels, which feeds into a formula that produces even greater difficulty in hitting a target. If you're trying to snipe someone, trying to account for that, in addition to every single other variable that comes with shooting a target through an urban landscape, means that landing an accurate shot on a moving target more than a mile or two away rapidly approaches the realm of straight up physical impossibility.
The only way such an 800km shot would be possible in a gravitational field of a planet is if you either re-directed the bullet mid-flight, or were firing from a location so much higher than the target that it's essentially a straight downward slope to the target. And it's sure as shit not the second option, because the picture shows the sniper on a standard building's roof. A downward shot from 800 kilometers away would require him to be somewhere above the atmosphere.

All right people. Enough of this. It's a scifi manga FFS. Don't apply what you know right now to their circumstances and I saw someone comparing it to the "latest railgun". They have friggin humanoid robots and androids in thwre already and you compare it to our latest? And friggin' think that they are already in another planet here. What do you guys know about the state of the planet they're in and the tehnology their wielding???? Give it a rest already. ?? On another note, Immortal Godmother is a good competition for Ding Yuan.

@ninjadork You are applying the physics of gunpowder (explosive-based) weapons. I think this gun is more like a railgun, an electromagnetically accelerated high density metal piece. Much higher starting velocity. Maybe that's why only slave-race can use it, they are much tougher than humans, as was explained before.
Yes, you are right about the ammo falling in a parabolic way and all, but this is fiction. You also left out the planet's curvature, which even on the largest known habitable planet would cause problems at this distance.
Also, that ammo had some electronics embedded to be able to enter the force field, so it's totally possible it had additional propulsion along the way. Or whatever, just use your imagination, man, dont say "it's not possible because current developements dont allow it". If you are like this with everything, you will never be able to enjoy these works.
