Tried the web novel to see how far it will fall. 6 chapters in...
mc first kill is a lvl 300 monster (he 'snipe' a monster outside the garden - it can't enter because of the house's newb protection zone - stabed it once using a spear).
he jumpstart from lvl 1 with all stats at 1 to lvl 100 with all stats at 1000 and extra 10.000 stats point unassigned, he increase stats all around with his int as the lowest stats (no this is not a joke). The next day his body turn into a hunk.
Nope nope nope nope.
the dumb mc become a walking aphrodisiac which makes all grils wet, guys who bully him before also shat themself after he pawned them. Yet, the stupid mc stay at home for 2 days fearing reprimandment after fighting with the bully. He return on the 3rd days, the bully are hospitalized and nobody cares.
16th chapter mc scouted for some camera action while trying to buy clothes for his now too-hunk-for-you body.
This is so bad it's good...
monsters apeared 10k attack, whaaat, died easily, next chapter another monster appeared, 20k attack, dead in one stab. Got a fenrir pup pet. Lvl 500 with all stats 10.000.
Really this series...
the girl he help, the one in front of convenient store, reappears on chapter 22. She is an rich ojousama and ask MC to transfer and enroll with her in some uber famous high school. This happened in front of the 2 sibling he had, right after they call MC lower species pig beneath them
=.= at this rate I only waiting for the mc to shag any random famous high class woman then start a harem.
@pikokola Thanks for the summary of this story. Kinda wish it will be a decent character development story and not another the MC is OP everything is easy.
@Kizuro
You're welcome, and if you expect char development, you might wants to steer away from this unless this derailed away from the web novel. MC didn't really grow or changes other than his level and environment. Even in new environment (new school) he's still as 'timid' as before, like when
people, especially girls, going full fan-girl mode when he walk past them; he still think maybe his zipper left open and those girl talk behind his back after finding it creepy, or something along that train of thought
Anyway, out of amusement on how random this series is, I read the rest of what the web novel offers. And, yeah...
money changing function are forgotten as fast as it's introduction. after changing couple of rank S item into money MC have tens of millions of money and don't mention the feature anymore... his school live also portrayed as random as it could, training for school sport festival he play as keeper and score a goal from a goal kick, even captain tsubasa doesn't go that far (they didn't right?).
He play table tennis on the festival in the end; drilled a hole on the table and gymnasium with his return.
School camping, he caught fish barehanded, check for poisoned mushrooms using his appraisal ability, and use cooking skill to cook.
Those stories are interlocked with what he did in another world, which is basically just hunting stuff. The amusing part is those monsters also drop handy "daily necessities" like brush that could grow and make your hair beautiful, portable bath thub, cheat toothbrush, self cleaning comfy futon. Of course those are forgotten as fast as it's minimal introduction.
He did visit a city, people think he's a noble. He sold earth paper to merchant guild, got enough money for years of living, also reach maximum merchant guild level from that one sale. Done some herb gathering for adventure guild, read some book on library (they let MC's pet dog and pig enter) - and then back to home to continue any unrelated school life story.
There are hardly any which we could call core story as MC lack what he wants or need to do, nor any followups on what ever happened. Somewhere in chapter 40ish he found the sage's book (sage as past owner of his house) deep in the forest, basically telling that if you reach this place then you're not a normal human being anymore -just like me- so, don't die alone like me, go get a friend knock some girl or something. This also forgotten next chapter.
The one with a little continuity is MC's entertainment business part, but that's just the fact that people fangirling on him (which he can't or won't understand eventhough he have the body and face of a first class gigolo), and he is finally scouted to officially become a model or something - which he refuse or reluctantly put on hold.
I think author finally wants to make a story out of it, by introducing looming threat which MC might have to fight on chapter 59-60. But, the intro also almost literally dismissing whatever ever established before. Basically
mc were fat because of his body hosting vast amount of power (no, this is not magic power, that have their own time introduced and forgotten a dozen chapters before - this pose question as the way it's learned is almost the same - you know, that generic feel the flow of energy inside you). MC's super-humanly feat (what happened on sport festival) was because he can't control it's power. MC actually descendant of certain line of mage(?), one of his predecessor was sealed on some parchment and now released because some devil from hell he sealed before are going to be released too (in about 5 years). The ghost ancestor could kill a strong goblin (B/A -class monster(?)) with one finger flick, pulverizing half of it's body and call it mid-rate monster. He then train MC to control this new power.
Idk if this manga will follow the web novel, maybe it won't as there is also a woman on the cover art wearing another world adventureresque clothes(?). Maybe it'll change the story to MC and the girl he saved on convenience store exploring another world.
But if it follow the web novel closely then we're on for a veeeery long path of incoherent generic trope spam followed by very long wait for the story to develop.
For reference web novel up to chapter 62, released dec 2019, there were only 8 chapters released on 2019 (55-62) and those are relatively short.
edit : fixing typo and elaborate a little more context.
@pikokola Yeah . . . I think I will follow the manga for at least 3-4ish chapter. Just for the sake of justifying me giving it 1 star if it was as bad as it get.
@pikokola thanks for summary of the WN.
its kinda disappointing then, after all its uncommon nowadays to see isekai story that give elaborate backstory on earth but doesnt force teleport MC (or outright kill him) to other world only to stuck there for the rest of his life.
usually its "mc suck, his life suck, but its now another world so forget about all that and live with cheat ability without resolving chapter one problem ever"
hope the manga will improve the story, not just follow the web novel for this case. since the art is nice enough
somewhat intrigued by this, but one chapter every other week? jesus. Also why'd the second chapter have a spanish TL on everything that wasn't a dialogue box?
Showing that instead of attempting to face your problems you should escape to a fantasy world and hope a miracle will happen.
Event though there are only two chapters it feels like a vent about how gorging yourself on food, which is really hard to do in japan so congrats, and escapism, honestly the mc is irritating, his family is irritating, all of his problems could've been solved with just a little bit of effort-
The Mc's family are a ridiculous plot device and there would have to be a precedent to this- we can see this by his violent outbursts. Judging from the end of the second chapter the mc is going to use the fact that that dumb door gave him a body without the mc even providing a tad bit of evidence as to why he should deserve it, this story is likely going to be short. Mc is gonna be the "cool guy", get the girl and the dumbass high schoolers who just did dumb things to fit in are all probably gonna be killed due to a hormonal teens mood swings.
Imma keep reading, if any, even one, of my assumptions come to be true imma give this a hard pass.
ugh they should have eased into the transformation. The change is way to drastic. Sung Jin-Woo's transformation in Solo Leveling was more believable because at least some time passed and he actually trained
