Okay well obviously it’s time for new skills to clear an obstacle, that’s all well and good but what’s with this story arc. A pervert with a magic stick, thoughtless ‘heros’ as unthinking slaves to contracts made with nobility, lost memories and a power struggle with another guild. A struggle that the commoner guild has essentially already lost with apparently a bunch of them having been slaughtered on the magic sword quest and others leaving cause they can see where the wind is blowing. What’s wrong with having an arc where the entire remaining commoner adventurers just up and leave for a nearby city? If she really wants to see the guild thrive but is beset on all sides by political enemies it makes sense to just roll the guild up into a neighboring guild and abandon the city to the nobles, take up an lower managerial position despite your pride and help the guild grow again elsewhere. I’d assume the grandfather would rather her be health and whole even having lost her position, instead of as a slave to a psycho. The noble guild in the old city would be stuck with a butt load of commoner quests that no one wants to do. Commoners begin leaving the city as well because their quests aren’t getting done. Income and taxes drop for nobility. Large swaths of the city are abandoned and become decrepit, invaded by smaller pest monsters and dangerous to live in. No one immigrates to a failing city. On the other hand the neighboring city with a guild now has an influx of skilled adventurers, they can afford to field larger teams and take on more difficult quests. The area around their city becomes safer as monsters now move to the forests and fields of the previous city now that adventurers are no longer clearing them. New city enjoys a population growth and new citizens to tax. I’d love to see this instead of the normal save-the-maiden quest, this would be world building and faction warfare. I’m disappointed the magic sword massacre happened off screen.
