Yo we decided to go with Silkie for her name instead of Shirukyi or Shiruki. I'm aware of what the author said in 4.5 but it makes absolutely no sense.

殺人 = satsujin = Murder
死 = shi = Death

And literally everything sounds better than Shirukyi.

If that's the case, then why did you change Sill Sill and Mill Mill to Shirushiru and Mirumiru? At least be consistent, this is like one step forward and three sommersaults off a cliff back.

Is it just me? Or what's with the sudden change in art style?
Did the author get some assistants or something?

I think the whole name debate is silly. If the name is phonological reconstruction of "silky" using japanese phonemes, then the obvious choice is to just make it "silky" in english - because the japanese reader is going to read it as "silky." That "shirukyi" was an approximation of "silky" was completely lost on me. The goal of translation is to provide as close as is possible to the same reading experience, in a different language. So translate it to convey the same obvious and intuitive meaning that it would have to a native japanese reader. It's not like it's real japanese anyway - it's straight up engrish.

Though yeah, I don't know why Mil Mil and Sil Sil had their names kept as they were.

Anyway, the goddess seems fickle. She's probably gonna end up on the chopping block at some point.

"With our cheat skills the locals from this world are no match at all!"
Yes and no, if you think of the goddess guidebook as a cheat book. Well, she is not local at all too.

I've looked up how her name's been written. With シルキィ you guys could go with Silky. It presents a good contrast to her outward actions to his inner murderous self. Author said it himself right? It's a cute attempt on a pun. Silky fits best here.

Dunno about the author in chapter 4.5 (since I can't find it) on whether he used キル as furigana for 殺人 or not. Would you kindly tell me on that part?

i'm too focused on this manga character-naming drama issue to the point that i can't even enjoy the manga itself. :huh:

yeah, so true, just go with "Silky" and "Silsil Milmil" for a wiser choice (based on the katakana naming character).

bet the translation in chapter 4.5 isn't really lead to the "殺人" and "死" words. well, a certain someone said that the pun is made from the word シリアルキラー, if so, then that will make more sense than the words "Murder" and "Death"

A pun from Serial Killer is plausible. Shortening シリアルキラー to シルキィ for an ironic joke seems fitting for the goddess too.

also, sorry man. my reading disorder totally whacked me and misinterpret your name to that one 18+ game. :haa:
