It's kinda buried in this thread, https://forums.mangadex.org/threads...ficial-publisher-from-latest-updates.2717598/, but looks like it's an initiative by Mangadex staff. I don't know why, but maybe to appease the license holders?

Kind of swept his entire backstory gimmick under the rug here like he didn't do shit for the 5 years he was gone and it's just a plot device to conveniently explain why he's good at stuff or reacting a certain way as needed. Was wondering if this would be sort of like isekai ojisan but seems like it's slop.

Considering how advanced a lot of the titles are already thanks to the groups, a torrent of chapter 1's to 4's isn't exactly going to attract traffic to the publisher sites. If anything, doing it this way will make people treat the updates like spam and block the publishers.
