Okay then, miss probably-a-witch. Nobody's given any context as to what constitutes a sorcerer or witch, so why would this person be so much more trustworthy?

No matter who's a witch and who's a sorcerer, Oki is taking too long. It was apparently already outside of her calculations that she would take so long that in the meantime someone else would come and have a chat with the perfectly ordinary civilian waiting at the barrier's edge. Though maybe Oki is Urei's client and that's why Urei knows for sure she's a witch.

Anyway, why do I keep seeing in the comments that the pacing is awful? Especially in this half chapter, which was a quite dynamic conversation? Is it because there's no 'showy' action? I mean, yeah, I do like my stories not to rush through the plot, but I didn't think the intrigue was dragging on too long.

Maybe I've been infected with my consumption of novels?

Soooo, was Urei's job was to keep him occupied/distracted while Oki gets ambushed/trapped in the shrine? I'm a bit confused on what exactly Urei is supposed to be doing. Though, I suppose we are getting some background/world lore out of their discussion.

Personally I'm not bothered by the pacing, it's so early in the story and I'd rather have character discussions than than an exposition wall-o-text.
