He's just a cook with no business sense. Nothing wrong with that, but he definitely needs somebody else to handle logistics and the business side of the restaurant.

Very relatable, especially for working people...
Often, although go harder on work to point of doing a self harm, the money situation is not getting better, it is getting worse.
Often, people say work smarter, not harder, but what can do when those said smarter work is not selling at all.

He's just a cook with no business sense. Nothing wrong with that, but he definitely needs somebody else to handle logistics and the business side of the restaurant.
Old man is doing half business half charity, and he get some good regulars and the place still standing. This proved he have a good enough sense, and full aware of what he can do and can't do.
After all, the place is on totally not ideal spot to make money, even putting a shabby shack took years.

The shop is in bad shape because he charges what he thinks people can pay and often doesnt seem to charge people he likes.

Does it even matter if he turns a profit? I mean, do we know anything about how the fantasy economy works? Does he need to pay taxes? Do his ingredients get purchased or does he get them from his friend network? He doesn't pay an electric bill. He only has one employee, and I think she lives with him in the diner, so no rent for either of them. If any part of the diner gets damaged he can get wood and stone from nature. Do people even save for retirement, or do they work until they die in their sleep like that Goblin?

I think he has very low overhead, and little reason to save. Making a profit seems secondary to staying operational, sheltered, and fed.

........................ so this chapter ends up in hanging "They actually can make a bit of money or not?"?
I mean... obviously deli doesn't work. Visitors want tavern also because of the atmosphere.

The poster girl has worked all night. Forcing to work outside midday obviously makes her tired.
