The way the author handles Kayako was my biggest gripe with the WN. It's done horribly. He says stuff like he tried to help her or whatever but he helped her less than he did total strangers. She and her mom are the closest things to a family he had left and he's leaving them to their demise. I feel worried for what's going to happen next. I hope it's not as bad though compared to the WN. He really should have level drained her or revealed he was strong from the beginning. It's weird how he says he cares but the easiest and simple way for him to make sure she's fine is to train her.
A lot of OP MC in these kinda stories have this repulsion to help raise their family members or friends. That one Avalon manga did it right. The MC in that one isn't hiding his expertise from his family and is making sure they're able to level up and survive on their own without him. The author is forcing it too hard to make kayoko go down a bad end m it's obvious.
I've read the spoilers from previous chapter comment section, and I wholly agree. And tbh I never thought about other stories utilizing similar tropes, but you are right on that too. It's often the family that is somehow the root of all evil when the story itself contradicts its own narrative that is making me hard to cheer for main characters.
What's the Avalon manga btw? You've piqued my curiosity, and I now want to check it out!
