While i won't claim it's the best excuse, you have to remember that the MC has essentially a broken moral compass after surviving what's implied to be a rather....unpleasant isekai world (wortenia senki, failure frame, though probably not on par with berserk since he's still human), bluntly speaking the mc's values are all over the place probably due to being used to seeing this stuff all the time.

He finally makes it home and desires balancing his compass, only to discover Earth is even more nonsensical than the fantasy world. Poor MC.

Lucifer is most often called as the "Fallen Angel" or the "Angel who rebelled against god", now I'm no religious person, but while Lucifer is mostly nowadays a Devil, his roots as an Angel still exists, and if I remember in Hataraku Maou-sama, Lucifer is also a once-angel now-demon character. So I guess this Lucifer hasn't fallen "yet" or idk.
