@givemersspls Sanitation is super important for militaries, especially in a historical context. Until fairly recently deaths through disease and general poor conditions for a army on the move out weighed battlefield losses massively(depending on the occasion 10:1 or even 100:1). Cholera, which stems from fecal matter getting into food and water, was an especially brutal killer and proper sanitation is pretty much the only way to avoid it. Without sanitation amassing large armies is very difficult and an army with with good sanitation would have a large advantage in sieges, both in defense and offense. BTW, sieges made up 90% of all engagements in many eras.

Introducing new technology is pretty much impossible without it having a military effect. Technologies that have a marginal effect on the military strength of a nation would also have to have an overall marginal effect on the society at large.

Isekai is a wish fulfillment genre, of course the absolutely retarded ideas the author comes up with will always work. MC could come up with a strategy of "just make everyone an archer so they don't risk dying in melee " and it would work because he said so.

but I don’t know why your making his reforms to be a bad thing. Not all countries that enter civil wars are forever weak and left helpless. Japan is a good example where after their civil war they went on an imperial expansion so I don’t know wats qualms you have with his approach. The current situation is untenable as the noble lords have to much control of not only military but even foreign affairs to an extent. In the modern era their are hardly any countries without some form of centralization even if provinces or counties are managed by local governments. Not having a central government is just to messy.
