@givemersspls Sanitation is super important for militaries, especially in a historical context. Until fairly recently deaths through disease and general poor conditions for a army on the move out weighed battlefield losses
massively(depending on the occasion 10:1 or even 100:1). Cholera, which stems from fecal matter getting into food and water, was an especially brutal killer and proper sanitation is pretty much the only way to avoid it. Without sanitation amassing large armies is very difficult and an army with with good sanitation would have a large advantage in sieges, both in defense and offense. BTW, sieges made up 90% of all engagements in many eras.
Introducing new technology is pretty much impossible without it having a military effect. Technologies that have a marginal effect on the military strength of a nation would also have to have an overall marginal effect on the society at large.
