Regarding this chapter, I'm honestly kind of not liking the angles and how zoomed up it is on the scenes. Perhaps it's the censorship that makes it seem worse, but it just doesn't seem as good as any of Roxanne's or Sherry's scenes.

Am I the only one who thinks this chapter perfectly encapsulates how weird times have become? What is the point of censoring this manga in this way? It's like trying to douse a burning house with a cup of tea.

You're mostly right. However, in this world some people have willingly sold themselves into slavery and agreed to go become a slave to be able to repay debts or for whatever reason. In such situations, they fully understand what it means to become a slave, which in turn means they are consenting to it. Furthermore, it's possible that some slaves want to have sex. They might have been forced into being slaves, but that doesn't mean they themselves don't have a sex drive or a desire for it. That, or they willingly chose to become slaves, and thus consent to the sex as well. But most likely by and large, yes it's probably slave rape. Although in MC's case, if I remember correctly I think Roxanne and Sherry sold themselves into slavery to help support their families. While they might not have been keen on all the aspects of slavery, they nonetheless still made a decision to become slaves for the money.
At the end of the day, if it makes you that uncomfortable, just don't read it.
Hy do you people focus on telling others what to do? I didn’t ask for your advice.

Sex drive or not, Miria was sold into slavery as punishment. She wasn’t trained or prepared for being fucked by her owner. It’s explicitly stated as such in this story. It’s weird and jarring. To not see it that way is odd to me. But then again I’ve actually had consensual sex with women without monetary compensatin.

Even in the novel, Miria and the next girl are only there and nothing much else.
Story-wise, at least the elf girl makes sense and she adds something, Sherry and Roxanne also had/have active roles only they can fill and played major parts in the story, but Miria and Vesta have nothing going for them except being slightly more exotic than the others, which is very sad...

I shall come back to comment on this when the elf girl is added to the party, which might take more than 5 years at this pace, but it is what it is...

First, people respond to you in such manner because you keep on talking about the proverbial elephant in the room. It's good indicative that you don't enjoy the story and therefore there is no reason for you to continue to read the story. You could say that they are considerate.

Second, your argument defeats itself.
Since this is her punishment, her thoughts on the matter are basically irrelevant. And yeah, "sex with the owner" part was obviously taken in account in the judgement.
Also, keep in mind that this is the era when the people could be sentenced to be beheaded, burned at the stake, stoned to death, branded by hot iron and exiled(which was pretty much also death sentence) et cetera et cetera. Being sold into slavery is relatively mild punishment.

Sherry did indeed opt into slavery and into sex slavery to help her family settle debts. She is very practical and prob did the math that a sex slave would sell higher and when asked said she would prefer to be free to go back to her family if Michio dies.

In the manga we actually don't know how Roxanne ended up in slavery but that she was at the slave house long enough to be taught Brahim, have etiquette lessons and form a bond with a kind old lady enough to push her new master to get involved so that said old lady comes to no harm.

Miria committed a crime so is the least consensual here. Also, remember, even though Sherry consented she wasn't thrilled about the sex until recently, it was just part of the job and she was curious about it but not asking for it like Roxanne would.

If somebody who hates the taste of Apples came to an Apple orchard and started feasting on Apples, then he started bitching about how much he hates Apples, he'd be rightfully told either politely or impolitely to go away and stop eating Apples then.

You doing the manga genre equivalent of that to nobody's surprise but your own gets you the same sort of response, but you're a little too simple to understand that.

Elephant in the room?

That comment tells me everything about you and that your lack of life experience doesn’t deserve further attention.

Still not comfortable with the mirin situation. A permanent reminder that this is a slavery/rape fantasy. Because a slave can not consent.
Damn so you read through all of these chapters while being uncomfortable and having a permanent reminder that this is a slavery rape fantasy and they can not consent. You are a true trooper.

So on how many other mangas do you drop these truth bombs on chapter 100+?

I think people forget that slavery was often used as the equivalent of modern prison, and not all that long ago either. At least one government, that of Iraq under Saddam, punished thieves by amputating a hand, and when people confused war amputees with thieves also branding them on the forehead. The way the west views punishment for crime and the way the rest of the world does do not match.
Yes, slavery is bad. Yes, slavery still exists. In the real world not just fiction. Will humans ever stop being assholes to each other if given the opportunity? Hell no.

There's a line that I really like from How the Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom: "Is a love that was prearranged not real love?"

That line comes from a dragon woman speaking to the kingdom's princess who is the fiance of the hero of the kingdom in question. The ruler of the dragon lands wants that dragon-girl to form a relationship with the hero as well. That hero has four fiances at that point and the dragon makes number five. The princess can't really respond to that because her relationship with the hero was prearranged as well.

Roxanne and the MC do not have a standard relationship, but I would say that it's very clear they love and trust each other. And that love and trust is not based on their sexual activities, it's based on the fact that they value each other as people. And the MC tries to have that kind of trust based relationship with each girl he brings into the party.

If an unmarried woman goes to an unmarried man's house and spends the night the expectation of other people is that they had sex. And that's been the norm for thousands of years. That has only changed in the last 20 - 30 years and only in the west. The laws that have been introduced about consent are stupid beyond belief and have done nothing but remove the need for some women to take responsibility for their own inability to keep their legs closed. And if you want to disagree because you think I'm being sexist, look at the material that gets put up on college/university campuses. It always blames the man.

We repeated see the slave trader emphasize that the slaves agreed to be sold as sex slaves, and that because they are virgins it's safer than going to a prostitute. Even Vale, a mid-sized town has an entire red light district. Sex will always be for sale, no matter who complains or tries to outlaw it, that never has and never will change. That slave trader understands that people have a sex drive and that they're going to find a way to relieve those urges. He advertises his product as a safer, cleaner option.

And frankly I think there's a lot of griping about consent because that fictional character is getting more action, and with much better women (in both looks and personality), than many of the people complaining are.
You know you would smash if it was you in that situation and that's what's got you mad.

We don't know for sure whether or not they get grumpy, and whether periods affect them the same way it does to humans in our world. And I don't think they author cares about the intricacies of daily things to that extent, it's not like we get to read about the periods that elves go through in the Lord of the Rings for instance. It's just not a necessary detail that really adds to anything to the overall story, it just adds more fluff and unnecessary detail where it starts to kind of make it seem we're losing the plot.
Yeah but Lord of the Rings is about industrialization, WWI, languages, and Christianity not about creating a slave harem that the main character has sex with, seemingly, every night with multiple women for over a month who are in the same room and you start to wonder... if you get my meaning.
