So is the basic idea to make a spirit the overseer and enforcer of the contract terms, all the way up to killing the contract violators? If so, hiring a god for that role is seriously funny. Way better than if it's just to summon a witness.

hey, I'm the god of harvests, sunshine and making sure Bobby isn't late on his monthly payments

Guess I was wrong. Letze AND Ashe have been chosen.

The realizing the spirit Jean "summoned":
It was at this moment that they knew they fucked up.

Remind me of that isekai de tochi. Demon king want to marry and asked an undead priest king for blessing , you see the undead is very powerful he summoned Hades,

this will not the last time a deity is summoned.

They are also proactive and will change the contract if it is slightly detrimental to Jean and the spirit can't complain since the spirit in question is their direct boss

:questionblob:can someone explain what's going on?
this chapter was all over the place...

It's basically a continuation from a previous quest line.

Jean has asked Noth/Note(Buttler) for some helpful hands he can hire that can be trusted for a confidential job. Note is not sure what kind of work Jean needs confidentiality for so he picks some capable but questionable fellows, their weird behaviour will be explained in future chapters. At the end they are signing a contract for the job and spirits are the ones overseeing magical contracts, the issue at the end is that it's one of Jeans guardian spirits and technically a god that gets summoned so they are a tiny little bit surprised.
